HerbatoninPRO 3 mg is the first plant (phyto) melatonin. It is made with chlorella, alfalfa and rice with the melatonin naturally occurring within the cells of the plants used. Nearly all other melatonin is synthetically produced, often using petrochemicals.

Melatonin is a hormone secreted by the pineal gland that aids sleeping patterns and bio-rhythm regulation. It has been proven to have many health benefits including:

However, research has shown that condition related dosing is critical when using melatonin. With dosages ranging from 0.3 mg to 50 mg, melatonin has one of the broadest dosing potentials of any hormone. Too much melatonin can result in side effects ranging from potentially reducing sensitivity of receptor sites, to paradoxical responses such as making it harder to fall asleep and drowsiness the next day. On average, the body produces 0.1 mg to 0.9 mg of melatonin per day depending on age, with 0.3 mg seen as the appropriate physiological dose for general support and long term use, with higher doses such as 3 mg for more clinical applications.

Suggested Use:
Standard Dose: 1 - 2 capsules 30 minutes before desired sleep.

Sleep & Shiftwork: 1 - 2 capsules half an hour before desired sleep.

Jet Lag: 1 capsule at night half an hour before sleep for 1- 2 nights leading up to travel. 2 capsules for 3 - 4 nights upon arrival in new time zone

PLEASE NOTE: For some individuals, excess melatonin can result in disrupted sleep, either making it harder to fall asleep or shortening the deep sleep period. Patients could experience sound sleep for the first 3-4 hours, wake and then have trouble falling back to sleep. Low dose melatonin use has been shown to be more effective for circadian rhythm sleep disorder. For extended use we recommend HerbatoninPRO 0.3 mg.
