Hi, I’m Rebecca Gephart, MSN, AGACNP-BC, FNP-BC, CFMP — a dual board-certified Nurse Practitioner, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, and founder of New Horizon Functional Medicine. I bring more than 22 years of healthcare experience to my practice, including over 14 years as a Nurse Practitioner. My clinical background spans emergency medicine, hospital medicine, family practice, urgent care, and both urban and rural healthcare. I continue to value my conventional medicine roots because they keep my approach grounded in clinical reasoning, safety, and evidence-based care. My path into functional medicine was also personal. There was a time in my own health journey when I knew something wasn’t right, yet traditional testing wasn’t providing answers. Working with a provider who looked beyond individual lab values and began connecting patterns across my health changed the trajectory of my own wellness — and ultimately changed the way I practice. Today, I combine the strengths of conventional and functional medicine to help patients better understand what may be contributing to persistent symptoms. Rather than looking at one symptom or laboratory value in isolation, I take a whole-person approach that considers how factors such as gut health, hormones, metabolism, inflammation, nutrient status, stress, sleep, lifestyle, environment, and genetics may interact. My approach is evidence-based, data-driven, and natural-first. I believe in using targeted testing when it will meaningfully guide care, prioritizing nutrition and lifestyle foundations, and using supplements thoughtfully and intentionally rather than simply adding more products. Prescription medications also have an important role when appropriate, and functional medicine should complement — not replace — the care you receive from your primary care provider and specialists. Most importantly, I want patients to understand their own health. My goal is to connect the dots, explain the “why” behind our recommendations, and turn complex information into a clear, personalized plan that feels realistic for your life. I believe some of the best healthcare happens when we combine good science, careful listening, clinical experience, and genuine curiosity about the person sitting in front of us.
