OmegaCheck
Quest’s OmegaCheck® measures long-chain omega-3 and major omega-6 fatty acids in whole blood, providing a picture of fatty-acid status that reflects more than a single recent meal. OmegaCheck® may be performed on individuals with hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hypertension, and/or those with high metabolic or cardiovascular risk. OmegaCheck is useful for evaluating omega-3 status, assessing response to fish oil or other EPA/DHA supplementation, looking at omega-3 versus omega-6 balance, and following nutritional interventions intended to improve cardiovascular or inflammatory risk factors. Quest lists OmegaCheck among its cardiovascular and metabolic testing options.
