Acid Blocker Protocol

Please pay attention to the number of bottles you'll need to order! HCl-Ease - 3 bottles. Gastrazyme - 3 bottles. Hydrozyme - 2 bottles. PRIMARY SUPPORT Phase 1 | Weaning Off [1-2 Weeks] Client should take regular dose of OTC PPI medication every other day for 1-2 weeks as symptom levels allow. If symptoms exacerbate beyond a tolerable level, take ½ dose daily for a few days, then wean back to a reduced dose every other day. While weaning, use stomach-healing nutrients daily. HCL-Ease™: Two (2) with each meal Gastrazyme™: Three (3) with each meal Raw apple cider vinegar (ACV) at the beginning of each meal is recommended to promote gastric enzyme activity. Dilute 1-2 tablespoons ACV in 4 oz. room temperature water. [We recommend Bragg's ACV, which is organic, raw, and unpasteurized.] On the OFF days from taking OTC PPI medication: Hydro-Zyme™: One (1) to three (3) with each meal HCL-Ease™: Two (2) with each meal Gastrazyme™: Three (3) with each meal If intolerable acid reflux occurs, direct patient to: eat a few more bites of a protein food, OR drink a small amount of baking soda in water (1 teaspoon baking soda in 4 ounces of room temperature water) or plain seltzer water to calm the stomach. This will alkalize digestive juice, which is a bit of a back-step, so this should only be absolutely necessary to temporarily relieve discomfort. Phase 2 | Discontinuing OTC Acid Reflux Medications I1 Week] When the client can tolerate occasional symptoms on the OFF days, the next step is to go completely off the OTC acid blocker and begin replenishing digestive juices. Hydro-Zyme™: Three (3) to four (4) in the middle of each meal HCL-Ease™: Two (2) with each meal Gastrazyme™: Three (3) with each meal If reflux symptoms such as burping, belching, or burning sensation still present themselves after a meal, either use 1-2 additional Hydro-Zyme™, or use the ACV in water solution to promote production of more gastric juices naturally. If these symptoms persist, client may need a greater amount of supplemental acid. Instruct him/her to do an HCl challenge to figure out his/her recommended dosage. Phase 3 | Determine Need For HCl Support With An HCl Challenge After one week of the Hydro-Zyme™, HCl-Ease™ and Gastrazyme™, have the client do an HCl challenge. If higher doses are indicated (more than 5-10 Hydro-Zyme™), the Betaine Plus HP™ is appropriate. Betaine Plus HP™ is about five times stronger than Hydro-Zyme™ , and is in capsule form. Meal 1: Take one (1) tablet of Hydro-Zyme™ at the beginning, after the first few bites of a substantial complex meal (ie: one that contains protein). Do not test a small meal or one that consists of only fruit, a light salad or a simple bowl of cereal. Stop if you experience any stomach irritation (see below). Meal 2: Take two (2) tablets at the beginning of the next complex meal. Meal 3: Take three (3) tablets at the beginning of the next complex meal, and so on with successive complex meals. If more than five (5) Hydro-Zyme™ are required, repeat the HCl Challenge using Betaine Plus HP™ capsules to find an appropriate dosage. Client should STOP taking the HCl if and when he reacts, i.e. a feeling of warmth or pressure in the stomach, and especially if irritation (heartburn, stomach ache) occurs. He/she may drink a tall glass of water to quench the reaction or take ½ teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in a cup of water, if it is necessary to neutralize the excess acidity. NUTRITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS Avoid refined carbohydrates and sugar, alcohol, caffeine, excessive amounts of raw vegetables, capsaicin and other hot pepper byproducts, and tannins in black teas.
