Apolipoprotein Evaluation

This panel measures apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1), apolipoprotein B (ApoB), and lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), to provide additional insight into your risk for heart disease and stroke. ApoA1 is the main protein in HDL, which helps transport cholesterol back to the liver. ApoB helps estimate the number of cholesterol-carrying particles that can contribute to plaque buildup in arteries. Lp(a) is a largely inherited cholesterol-carrying particle associated with increased cardiovascular risk when elevated. These markers may reveal risk that is not fully reflected in a standard lipid panel. This panel helps assess risk but does not diagnose existing artery blockages or heart disease.
