C-Reactive Protein, High Sensitivity (CRP, HS)

This test measures small amounts of C-reactive protein (CRP), a protein your liver produces in response to inflammation. The high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) test can provide additional information about your risk for heart disease when considered alongside cholesterol levels and other cardiovascular risk factors. Elevated results may reflect low-grade inflammation, but they can also occur with infections, injuries, or other inflammatory conditions. This test does not identify the source of inflammation or diagnose heart disease.
