Chronic Infection Package

This panel checks for antibodies to Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Toxoplasma gondii, a parasite. These infections can sometimes cause fatigue, fever, or swollen lymph nodes. The EBV evaluation and CMV IgM and IgG tests help assess patterns of recent or past infection, while Toxoplasma IgG checks for evidence of previous exposure. Positive IgG antibodies often remain long after an infection and do not mean it is currently causing symptoms. A positive CMV IgM result also requires careful interpretation and may need confirmation. This panel alone cannot diagnose an active chronic infection or establish the cause of ongoing fatigue.
