Cortisol

This test measures cortisol, a hormone made by your adrenal glands that helps regulate your stress response, blood pressure, blood sugar, and metabolism. Cortisol normally changes throughout the day, so the timing of your blood draw is important. Testing may help investigate whether your body is producing too little or too much cortisol, but a single blood measurement usually cannot establish a diagnosis.
