Centromere Antibodies (Centromere Abs) are autoantibodies that target proteins in the centromere region of chromosomes. They are most commonly associated with limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (formerly CREST syndrome), a form of scleroderma. Testing for these antibodies helps in diagnosing autoimmune connective tissue diseases and assessing disease type and prognosis.
