The CICA Antibodies test evaluates serological markers for celiac disease and Crohn's disease. Increased levels of these antibodies indicate active disease.

This test evaluates tissue Transglutaminase (tTG)-specific IgG and IgA antibodies as well as total IgA. This measurement is useful to identify active disease. tTG is an enzyme produced by damaged enterocytes. The total antibody levels are also assessed to confirm the reliability of specific antibody levels to guide test interpretation. Active disease, as well as genetic risk suggests a need for dietary evaluation, which can be guided by an Alcat food sensitivity test. The CICA antibody test also measures IgG and IgA antibodies against saccharomyces cerevisiae ASCA (an indication of Crohn's disease) and antibodies against deamidated gliadan peptide, a risk factor for celiac disease.

Day of Collection
- DO NOT take any medications or supplements for 3-4 hours before your blood draw.
- If your blood draw is scheduled in the morning, take your morning medications and supplements after your blood draw.
