Details
This is a single-marker test measuring copper. Elevated serum copper levels can alter the brain's function, specifically the activity of dopamine and norepinephrine. Elevated serum copper levels are also known to cause zinc levels to deplete and oxidative stress to rise.

Before You Start
- You will not receive a kit for your blood draw.
12 Hours Before Collection
- Stop taking supplements containing vitamins and minerals.
- Note that some sports and energy drinks, such as Redbull or Vitamin Water, are known to contain levels of vitamins and minerals that would classify them as supplements. Please look at the vitamin and mineral information on your products. If they are considered a supplement, like Ensure, please discontinue them 12 hours prior to sample collection.
- DO NOT discontinue prescription medication without consulting your healthcare provider.
- Fasting for 12 hours before your blood draw is recommended, but not required.
- Fasting before a blood draw means you don't eat or drink anything except water.
- Your doctor should provide any special instructions related to fasting for your test. Always follow your doctor's instructions.
Day of Collection
- Your sample must be collected by a phlebotomist at a Labcorp Patient Service Center (PSC).
