Before You Start
- Please read the provided test collection instructions.
- If you are a menstruating woman, collect your samples during days 19 to 23 of your menstrual cycle (assuming a 28-day cycle). Day 1 is the first day of your period.
- If you are taking hormone injections, subcutaneous pellets, or transdermal patches, collect your samples at the halfway point between doses (for example, 3 days after a once-weekly injection).
- Continue taking any oral hormones (pills) as prescribed.
- All saliva samples must be collected on the same day.
5 Days Before Collection
- Cortisol testing only: If you are taking a cortisol supplement, glucocorticoid, or cortisol-containing medication, it is recommended to stop using these products 5 days before sample collection.
- DO NOT discontinue any prescription medication without consulting your healthcare provider.
2 Days Before Collection
- Melatonin testing only: Avoid the following foods for 2 days before and during sample collection:
- Fruits
- Fruit juice
- Nuts
- Nut butter
- Wine
- Rice
36 Hours Before Collection
- Melatonin testing only: Take your last dose of melatonin supplementation at least 36 hours before collecting your first saliva sample.
- If you are taking sublingual hormones or troches:, take your last dose 24 to 36 hours before collecting your first saliva sample.
- Drink 2 full glasses of water after your last dose to clean the tissues.
24 Hours Before Collection
- If you are taking topical hormones, take your last dose 12 to 24 hours before collecting your first saliva sample.
Day of Collection
- DO NOT use topical, sublingual, or troche hormones on the day of saliva collection.
- Avoid any food or drinks containing caffeine.
- Avoid all supplements and non-essential medications. DO NOT discontinue any prescription medication without consulting your healthcare provider.
- DO NOT eat or drink anything for 1 hour before collection.
- DO NOT brush or floss your teeth or have dental work done for 30 minutes before collection.
Collection Schedule
- Collect only the saliva tubes that correspond to the biomarkers ordered by your healthcare provider.
- Collection 1 (Pink Tube): Collect 30 minutes after waking.
- Cortisol Morning, DHEA, Estradiol, Estriol, Estrone, Melatonin Morning, Progesterone, Secretory IgA, Testosterone
- Collection 2 (Green Tube): Collect at noon or before lunch.
- Cortisol Noon
- Collection 3 (Orange Tube): Collect in the evening or before dinner.
- Cortisol Evening, Melatonin Evening
- Collection 4 (Blue Tube): Collect right before bed.
- Cortisol Night, Melatonin Night
