The Adrenocortex Stress Profile with CAR measures cortisol and DHEA through carefully timed saliva samples. It assists in understanding a patient's natural diurnal rhythm and the diagnosis of HPA imbalances. This test also measures the cortisol awakening response.

Before You Start
- Please read the test collection instructions carefully.
- DO NOT change use of any medications, including hormones, unless instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.
1 Hour Before Collection
- Do not do any of the following:
- Eat
- Brush or floss your teeth
- Use mouthwash
- Apply lip balm
- Chew gum
- Use tobacco products
- You may drink ONLY water during this time.
Collection Schedule
- Collect immediately upon waking (within 5 minutes)
- Collect 30 minutes after waking (within 5 minutes of target time)
- Collect between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Collect between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM
- Collect between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- Collect between 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM
State restrictions:
Patient can't order this test if they are located in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, New Jersey, New York, or Rhode Island
