Before You Start
- Please read the test collection instructions carefully.
- Certain medications may influence results, but there are no known interfering medications.
- DO NOT discontinue any prescription medications without first consulting your healthcare provider.
1 Hour Before Each Collection
- Do not do any of the following:
- Eat
- Brush or floss your teeth
- Use mouthwash
- Apply lip balm
- Chew gum
- Use tobacco products
- You may drink ONLY water during this time.
Collection Schedule
- Sample 1: Collect between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Sample 2: Collect between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- Sample 3: Collect between 2:30 AM and 3:30 AM
Night of Collection
- Before going to sleep, place your third collection tube (with a completed label) at your bedside along with:
- A glass of water
- A low-level light (avoid using bright light—it can reduce melatonin production)
State restrictions:
Patient can't order this test if they are located in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, New Jersey, New York, or Rhode Island
