Essential Estrogens™ is a targeted urinary hormone test designed to evaluate estrogen metabolism. It is used for initial estrogen assessments and follow-up testing to monitor response to therapies. This test uses a first morning void collection.

Before You Start
- Please read the test collection instructions carefully.
- DO NOT discontinue any medications without first consulting your healthcare provider.
- Premenopausal women: If the goal is to evaluate ovulatory function, collect specimens between days 19–25 of your menstrual cycle.
- Perimenopausal/menopausal women and males: Collect on any day.
Day Before Collection
- Consume no more than six 8-ounce glasses of fluid in the 24 hours before collection.
Night Before Collection
- If you are collecting a genomic SNP add-on, do not use mouthwash.
Day of Collection
- If collecting a genomic SNP add-on:
- Avoid the following activities before collection:
- Eating
- Brushing or flossing your teeth
- Using mouthwash
- Chewing gum
- Using tobacco products
- Consuming coffee products
- Collect your sample immediately upon waking.
- Avoid the following activities before collection:
- Collect your first morning urination.
