Before You Start
- Please read the test collection instructions carefully.
- Wait to take hormone medications until after collecting the morning sample.
- Do not discontinue any medications without consulting your healthcare provider.
- If you have difficulty producing enough saliva:
- Press the tip of your tongue against your teeth.
- Yawn or imagine sour or flavorful foods.
- Smell flavorful foods.
1 Hour Before Collection
- Avoid the following activities:
- Eating
- Brushing or flossing your teeth
- Using mouthwash
- Applying lip balm
- Chewing gum
- Using tobacco products
- You may drink ONLY water during this time.
Night of Collection
- Before your 2:30AM–3:30AM collection, place your labeled collection tube at your bedside along with:
- A glass of water
- A low-level light source
- DO NOT turn on a bright light during collection, as it can suppress melatonin levels.
Collection Schedule
- Sample 1: Between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Sample 2: Between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM
- Sample 3: Between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- Sample 4: Between 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM
- Sample 5: Between 2:30 AM and 3:30 AM

Patient can't order this test if they are located in Hawaii, Puerto Rico, New Jersey, New York, or Rhode Island
