Menopause Plus™ is a comprehensive salivary hormone test that evaluates levels of key hormones, including DHEA, cortisol, and melatonin, in both women and men. This test includes CAR. To enhance clinical utility, patient results are provided in comparison to standard reference ranges for various healthy cohorts and in comparison to a cohort of supplemented peri/menopausal women.

Before You Start
- Please read the test collection instructions carefully.
- Premenopausal women: If the goal is to evaluate ovulatory function, collect specimens between days 19 and 25 of your menstrual cycle. (Day 1 is the first day of your period.)
- Perimenopausal women and males: Collect specimens on any day.
- Wait to take hormone medications until after collecting the morning sample.
- Do not discontinue any medications without consulting your healthcare provider.
- If you have difficulty producing enough saliva:
- Press the tip of your tongue against your teeth.
- Yawn or imagine sour or flavorful foods.
- Smell flavorful foods.
1 Hour Before Each Collection
- Avoid the following activities:
- Eating
- Brushing or flossing your teeth
- Using mouthwash
- Applying lip balm
- Chewing gum
- Using tobacco products
- You may drink ONLY water during this time.
Collection Schedule
- Day 1: Between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Day 2: No collection
- Day 3: Between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Day 4: No collection
- Day 5: Between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Day 6:
- Sample 1: Immediately upon waking
- Sample 2: 30 minutes after waking
- Sample 3: Between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Sample 4: Between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM
- Sample 5: Between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM
- Sample 6: Between 10:00 PM and 12:00 AM
- Sample 7: Between 2:30 AM and 3:30 AM
Day 6 Night
- Before your 2:30 AM–3:30 AM collection, place your labeled collection tube at your bedside along with:
- A glass of water
- A low-level light source
- DO NOT turn on a bright light during collection, as it can suppress melatonin levels.
