It includes tests for electrolytes (like sodium and potassium), calcium, phosphorus, glucose, and tests that show how well your kidneys and liver are working. This panel helps find conditions that can affect your liver or kidneys, among other things. It's often part of a regular health check-up.

What does this test measure?
  • Sodium: Helps keep the right balance of fluids in your body.
  • Potassium: Important for muscle and nerve function.
  • Chloride: Helps keep your body's fluid balance.
  • Carbon Dioxide (Bicarbonate): Helps keep your body's acid-base balance.
  • Glucose: The main type of sugar in your blood, an energy source.
  • Calcium: Important for your nerves, muscles, and bones.
  • Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) & Creatinine: Waste products that show how well your kidneys are working.
  • eGFR: Estimates your kidney function based on creatinine and other factors.
  • Phosphate: Important for energy production and bone formation.
  • Albumin & Total Protein: Proteins in your blood that help carry substances and support your immune system.
  • Total Bilirubin: A waste product from the breakdown of red blood cells.
  • Alkaline Phosphatase & AST: Enzymes that can indicate liver or bone issues.

Who might need this test?
Your Provider might order this panel if you're having a health check-up or if they suspect problems with your liver, kidneys, or other related conditions.

What type of sample is required?
2 mL of blood serum. 
A healthcare professional will collect the blood sample from you.

Fasting for 8 hours before your blood draw is recommended but not required.
  • Fasting before a blood draw means you don't eat or drink anything except water. 
  • Your doctor should provide any special instructions related to fasting for your test. Always follow your doctor's instructions.
