Copper, RBC - Copper is a crucial mineral that helps many of our enzymes work properly. This test checks copper levels in the body, which can tell us about certain health conditions like Wilson's disease, Menkes disease, primary biliary cirrhosis, and Indian childhood cirrhosis. It's also used to see how the body reacts to inflammation or to check if there's a problem with how the body absorbs nutrients. This test is particularly important for monitoring the health of preterm newborns who are receiving extra nutrition.
