Epstein-Barr Virus Antibody Panel - This test is used to detect infections caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which is known for causing infectious mononucleosis, often referred to as mono. While mono is generally a mild illness in children and young adults, EBV can also lead to more serious conditions, including certain types of tumors.

What patients is this test right for?

VCA-IgM: Appears early in the infection and fades within 1 to 3 months.
VCA-IgG: Also appears early but remains in the body for life.
EBNA IgG: Develops later and stays for life, indicating past infection and recovery.

Symptoms of Mono:

Tiredness
Fever
Sore throat
Swollen glands
Swelling in the liver or spleen

1 mL serum. A simple blood draw is needed.
