A result of 135 mg/dL or higher suggests the need for a more comprehensive gestational glucose tolerance test, conducted while fasting, to confirm if gestational diabetes is present.

Your specimen will be collected 1 hour following a 50 gram dose of glucose. Your doctor should provide any special instructions related to fasting for your test. Always follow your doctor's instructions.
The test should be performed between weeks 24 and 28 of gestation.
