hCG, Total, Quantitative - This test measures the level of hCG, a hormone produced during pregnancy. hCG can be detected as early as 7-10 days after conception and peaks between the 7th and 10th week. It's not only an indicator of normal pregnancy but also helps in diagnosing certain conditions like hydatidiform mole, choriocarcinoma, and testicular neoplasm. If the hCG serum result doesn't match the clinical presentation, a qualitative hCG urine test may be recommended.
