Details
Helicobacter pylori, Urea Breath Test - This test checks for H. pylori, a bacterium linked to stomach issues like ulcers and chronic gastritis. Using a non-invasive breath analysis, the PyloPlus® UBT can detect current infections of H. pylori without the need for invasive procedures.

What patients is this test right for?
This test is suitable for individuals experiencing symptoms of upper GI tract issues, including: 
  • Stomach pain or discomfort
  • Bloating
  • Nausea
  • Heartburn
  • Unexplained weight loss

What type of sample is required for this test?
Human breath: Paired breath samples (pre and post) are collected using the PyloPlus UBT Collection Kit bags and must be submitted together. Please follow the instructions provided with the kit.

  • Infectious Disease

Use of antimicrobials, proton pump inhibitors, or bismuth preparations (pepto-bismol, pylorid, tritec, De-Nol, etc.) within two weeks before administering the PyloPlus® UBT test may cause a false negative result. However, a positive result is still valid. 
Fast for at least one hour before collection of baseline breath sample.

  • Cost: $10 sample collection fee (paid during lab order checkout).
  • Scheduling: Schedule your appointment here. Appointments are recommended to reduce wait times. Walk-ins are accepted, but may experience delays. Aim to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment.
  • Collection Instructions:
    • Bring a valid ID.
    • Bring your digital or printed requisition form, available in the Labs tab of your Fullscript account.
