It checks for levels of total protein, albumin, globulin, albumin/globulin ratio, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT).

ALT, AST, ALP, and bilirubin levels can indicate liver injury. ALT is more specific to the liver compared to AST. High levels of ALT and AST suggest liver cell injury, while high ALP and bilirubin levels suggest bile duct issues. High direct bilirubin levels can point to liver or bile duct problems. Albumin levels can show how well the liver is making proteins, which is a sign of its overall health.
