Eat a high-carbohydrate diet for 3 days before your blood draw.
Overnight fasting is required.
- Fasting before a blood draw means you don't eat or drink anything except water.
- Your doctor should provide any special instructions related to fasting for your test. Always follow your doctor's instructions.
Glucose solution 1.75 g/kg body weight (maximum dose 75 g) orally administered after collection of a fasting specimen.
