Details
Mutated Citrullinated Vimentin (MCV) Antibody - This test is used to help diagnose rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by detecting specific antibodies. It's often used alongside other markers like rheumatoid factor and anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP). While MCV antibody is slightly less specific than CCP, it offers a bit higher sensitivity, improving RA diagnosis by 5-10% when combined with CCP. A positive MCV antibody test also indicates a more severe form of the disease and a greater likelihood of joint damage over time.
