Details
Elevated PSA levels can indicate both benign and malignant conditions of the prostate. For men aged 50 or older, combining PSA tests with digital rectal exams enhances early detection of prostate cancer. After complete tumor resection, PSA levels should drop to undetectable levels, but may increase again if the disease recurs or if residual disease is present. Therefore, monitoring PSA levels is beneficial in managing prostate cancer patients.
