Details
The Baby Gut Health Test gives you insights into the commensal and pathogenic species in the microbiome with accurate relative abundances. Shotgun metagenomics testing will give you strain-level resolution and data on the functional capacity of the microbiome from digestion to gut inflammation. This test is designed for babies and toddlers, ages 0 - 3 years old.

Estimated days for results: Results should arrive 20 business days after the lab receives samples.
The Tiny Health Baby Gut Health Test is the most comprehensive gut microbiome assessment purpose-built for infants and toddlers ages 0–3. Powered by deep shotgun metagenomics, this test provides species- and strain-level resolution across bacteria, viruses, fungi, archaea, and parasites, and most critically, results are benchmarked against baby-specific reference ranges, not adult norms. This distinction matters clinically: the infant gut microbiome is structurally and functionally distinct from the adult microbiome, and applying adult reference ranges to babies produces incorrect conclusions.
All samples are processed in a CLIA- and CAP-certified U.S. lab, with results delivered in approximately 3–4 weeks.
The first three years of life represent a critical and time-sensitive window for microbiome development, with lasting implications for immune programming, atopic disease risk, metabolic health, and neurodevelopment. The Baby Gut Health Test measures microbiome diversity, beneficial bacteria levels, immune-protective colonization milestones, and biomarkers associated with eczema, allergy, asthma, constipation, colic, and sleep patterns all benchmarked to age-matched peers. Functional profiling reveals what microbial communities are actively doing in the infant gut, not just who is present, enabling practitioners to intervene precisely and early. Tiny Health's published clinical research demonstrates 83% lower odds of eczema risk in C-section babies who received personalized microbiome support based on test results.
This test is particularly valuable for infants born via C-section, where natural microbial seeding at birth is bypassed, as well as babies with symptoms including colic, reflux, constipation, or poor sleep; infants presenting with or at risk for eczema and food sensitivities; and those with prenatal or postnatal antibiotic exposure. Mess-free collection is performed using a lab-certified swab from a soiled diaper or tissue paper, requiring no direct stool handling and approximately five minutes to complete.
