Details

The Child Gut Health Test gives you insights into the commensal and pathogenic species in the microbiome with accurate relative abundances. Shotgun metagenomics testing will give you strain-level resolution and data on the functional capacity of the microbiome from digestion to gut inflammation. This test is designed for kids ages 3 to 18.

The Tiny Health Child Gut Health Test provides deep, age-appropriate gut microbiome analysis for children ages 3–18, powered by deep shotgun metagenomics. As children move beyond the foundational microbiome development of infancy, distinct patterns emerge that are associated with digestive function, immune regulation, atopic conditions, and metabolic health.

This test delivers species- and strain-level resolution across 120,000+ microbial genomes like bacteria, viruses, fungi, archaea, and protozoan parasites with results benchmarked to pediatric-specific reference ranges and processed in a CLIA- and CAP-certified U.S. lab. Reports are delivered in approximately 3–4 weeks.

The test measures microbiome composition and diversity relative to age-matched peers, biomarkers associated with eczema, asthma, allergic disease, and food sensitivities, gut condition associations for constipation, picky eating, and sleep, and functional profiling that maps microbial metabolic activity in the child's gut. The inclusion of parasite and pathogen screening covering protozoa and opportunistic pathogens at 0.005% relative abundance and is particularly valuable for pediatric presentations where infectious contributors to symptoms may be overlooked. Personalized dietary and probiotic recommendations are generated based on each child's unique profile, giving practitioners condition-specific action steps to support rebalancing.

This test is well-suited for children with chronic or recurrent digestive symptoms including constipation, diarrhea, bloating, or abdominal pain; kids with atopic conditions such as eczema, asthma, or allergies where gut involvement is suspected; pediatric patients with multiple food sensitivities or frequent antibiotic exposure; and any child whose persistent health challenges warrant a root-cause microbiome assessment. Mess-free collection via lab-certified swab from soiled tissue paper requires no direct stool handling and approximately five minutes to complete.
