The Tiny Health PRO Gut Health Test combines deep shotgun metagenomics with a non-microbial stool chemistry panel - the only Tiny Health test to deliver both microbial and biochemical gut function data from a single sample. The microbial component provides species- and strain-level resolution across 120,000+ genomes, microbial functional capacity, gut inflammation index, and health condition signatures from current research. The non-microbial stool chemistry panel adds direct biochemical markers: digestion and absorption markers (elastase, fecal fat, carbohydrates), immunology (secretory IgA), short-chain fatty acid concentrations (butyrate, acetate, propionate, valerate), inflammation markers (lactoferrin, lysozyme, calprotectin), and intestinal health markers (gut pH, beta-glucuronidase, occult blood).

All samples are processed in a CLIA- and CAP-certified U.S. lab. Available for ages 3 and up.

This dual-layer approach is what distinguishes the PRO test for complex clinical presentations. For patients with chronic or treatment-resistant GI symptoms, the combination of microbial and non-microbial inflammation markers, including lactoferrin and calprotectin, enables practitioners to identify whether inflammation is microbially driven, immunologically driven, or both, a distinction that standard microbiome testing alone cannot provide. Digestive enzyme markers help distinguish between dysbiosis, enzyme insufficiency, and malabsorption as drivers of symptoms, while beta-glucuronidase measurement supports assessment of estrogen metabolism which can be particularly relevant for patients with PMS, PCOS, or perimenopausal symptoms. SCFA concentrations provide direct insight into microbial metabolic output and gut barrier support, rounding out one of the most complete clinical windows into gut function available through at-home testing.

The PRO test is best suited for adults with chronic or treatment-resistant GI conditions where root cause remains unclear; patients with food-related symptoms, malabsorption, or multiple food sensitivities; children ages 3+ with atopic conditions where digestive function or food-driven gut inflammation may be contributing; women with PMS, PCOS, or perimenopausal symptoms where estrogen metabolism is relevant; and any complex case where prior microbiome testing has not provided sufficient clinical insight.
