Day of Collection
- Please read the provided test collection instructions.
- You DO NOT need to stop current hormone medications before collection unless advised by your healthcare provider. DO NOT discontinue any prescription medication without consulting your healthcare provider.
- For optimal collection timing while using hormones, collect according to the schedule below:
- Creams, gels, or capsules: 12–24 hours after last dose
- Troche or sublingual hormones: 36 hours after last dose
- Patches: 24–48 hours after applying patch
- Injections or pellets: midpoint between treatment
- Men and post-menopausal women can collect on any day.
- Pre-menopausal women should collect according to the following schedule:
- Normal cycle: Collect on days 19-21 of your menstrual cycle. (Day 1 is the first day of your most recent period.)
- Long cycle: Calculate the number of days your cycle exceeds 28 days and add that number to days 19–21 to determine your collection window (e.g. 32-day cycle would collect on days 23-25).
- Short cycle: Collect approximately 2 days before your next expected period.
- Irregular cycle: Collect on any day when you are not menstruating (bleeding).
24 Hours Before Collection
- Avoid sexual intercourse.
Night Before Collection
- Try to avoid urinating throughout the night before your planned collections.
- If you must urinate during the night, use the 5th collection card provided and follow the collection instructions for the additional card.
Day of Collection
- You will collect 4 samples throughout the day. Collect all 4 samples on the same day.
- Avoid the following substances:
- Caffeine
- Tea
- Alcohol
- Bananas
- Avocados
- Flax seeds or flax seed oil
- Reduce your fluid intake to approximately half of your usual amount, aiming for 45–60 ounces throughout the day.
