The CDC issued an order in 2019 that healthcare providers who are not MDs are not allowed to advise on supplements that boost the immune system. Other organizations followed suit. I am no longer comfortable recommending immune support despite permission granted by my license and training. However, I have found a solution that works for both me and my patients. This is the IFM Cold and Flu Season protocol here. The supplements in this protocol are advised by MDs with the Institute for Functional Medicine. The IFM is the nation's most respected professional group of functional medicine doctors---of which I am a member. Attached are the documents that explain the rationale for each supplement recommended to boost the immune system. Sleep is VERY important. Even the most knowledgeable nutrition doctors taking all the supplements they can to avoid contagious disease, are falling ill nonetheless due to lack of sleep. Because sleep is very critical to helping the immune system, and because of new regulations on healthcare providers against advising patients about boosting the immune system, I am not at liberty to advise you about the connection between sleep and the immune system.
