Cold and flu support supplements are dietary supplements designed to help boost the immune system and alleviate symptoms associated with the common cold and flu. While these supplements are not a substitute for medical treatment, they may offer some relief and support during the course of an illness. Here are some common ingredients found in cold and flu support supplements: Vitamin C: Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that supports the immune system and may help reduce the duration and severity of cold symptoms. Zinc: Zinc is known to support immune function and may help reduce the duration and severity of colds when taken at the first sign of illness. Echinacea: Echinacea is a popular herbal remedy that some studies suggest may help boost the immune system and reduce the risk of catching a cold or flu. Elderberry: Elderberry is a fruit that contains antioxidants and has been traditionally used to support the immune system and alleviate cold and flu symptoms. Garlic: Garlic has antimicrobial properties and is believed to support the immune system. Vitamin D: Vitamin D is essential for a healthy immune system, and some research indicates that maintaining adequate levels of vitamin D may help reduce the risk of respiratory infections. Astragalus: Astragalus is an herb often used in traditional Chinese medicine to support the immune system and improve resistance to infections. Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus oil or extract may help relieve congestion and ease respiratory symptoms associated with colds and flu. Ginger: Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and may help soothe a sore throat and reduce nausea, which can be common during cold and flu. Probiotics: Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that support gut health and may also play a role in boosting the immune system. When considering cold and flu support supplements, it's essential to remember that individual responses to these supplements can vary. Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement, especially if you have underlying health conditions or take other medications, to ensure there are no potential interactions or adverse effects. Additionally, these supplements should not be relied upon as a sole treatment for colds or flu, and proper medical attention should be sought if symptoms are severe or persist. Remember that the best defense against colds and flu is often practicing good hygiene, getting enough rest, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. NOTE: Do not start any new supplements without first consulting with a qualified health professional. This protocol is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease(s). Read all instructions carefully and speak with your pharmacist about potential drug-drug, drug-food, and drug-supplement interactions. Supplements may be helpful in managing high cholesterol levels, but they should be used in conjunction with a healthy diet and lifestyle changes. Here are some supplements that may be beneficial: Omega-3 fatty acids: Omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish oil, flaxseed oil, and other sources. They can help lower triglycerides, a type of fat in the blood, and reduce the risk of heart disease. Omega-3 supplements should be taken under the guidance of a healthcare provider, as they can interact with certain medications. Fiber supplements: Fiber can help lower cholesterol levels by binding to cholesterol in the gut and preventing its absorption. Soluble fiber supplements such as psyllium may be particularly effective in reducing cholesterol levels. Garlic: Garlic supplements may help lower cholesterol levels by reducing the amount of cholesterol produced by the liver. Red Yeast Rice: a rice product fermented by bacteria that contains the drug lovastatin, and is currently the most effective naturally occurring statin. It is able, like most statins, to reduce circulating cholesterol levels. CoQ10: a molecule produced in the body. It aids mitochondria during energy production and is a part of the endogenous antioxidant system. It is similar to other pseudovitamin compounds because it is vital for survival, but does not necessarily need to be taken as a supplement. However, there is a potential for deficiency due to suffering a heart attack, taking statins, various disease states, and aging. It's important to note that supplements are not a substitute for medication prescribed by a healthcare provider. Always consult with a healthcare provider before taking any supplements, especially if you have a medical condition or are taking medications. Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. The way you feel while you are awake depends in part on what happens while you are sleeping. During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. Getting inadequate sleep over time can raise your risk for chronic (long-term) health problems. It can also affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others. Learn how sleep affects your heart and circulatory system, metabolism, respiratory system, and immune system and how much sleep is enough. These supplements can help with sleep initiation, but it is vital to pair any of these with daily habits that support your circadian rhythm for full effect: Get 15-20 minutes of outside time in the first half of the day, preferably without sunglasses and some skin exposed without sunscreen. Sunlight sends messages to our brain that it is daytime and helps set the proper circadian rhythm for our body. Stop eating 2-3 hours before bedtime. Going to bed on a full stomach hinders the body's ability to get into deep sleep, which affects the quality of your sleep. This also increases indigestion and acid reflux if the stomach is too full and you try to lie down to sleep. If needed, a light snack with a good source of protein can be taken in 1 hour prior to bed. Turn off ALL electronics 2 hours before bed and have a bedtime routine to wind down that is consistent. Blue light signals to the brain that it is still daytime and suppresses melatonin production and release. Melatonin is necessary for quality sleep and is a potent anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory hormone. If you must have electronics on, use blue-light blocking glasses to cut down on the harmful effects of this in the evening. Keep your bedroom cool and dark and for only sleeping and sex (no TV, no computer/work). This tells the body and brain when lying down to bed that this is where you come to rest and sleep, not watch TV and work or surf the internet. NOTE: Do not start any new supplements without first consulting with a qualified health professional. This protocol is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease(s). Read all instructions carefully and speak with your pharmacist about potential drug-drug, drug-food, and drug-supplement interactions. Purchasing any supplements in this protocol does not constitute the establishment of a patient-provider relationship with Antigravity Wellness LLC or Nicole Smith DNP. It's important for men to take care of their health to reduce their risk of these conditions. As men age, concerns with fertility and sexual health arise. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection that is satisfactory for sexual intercourse. Prevalence of ED increases with age, with approximately 20% before age 30, 25% between age 30 to 39, 40% between age 40 to 49, 60% between age 50 to 59, 80% between age 60 to 69, and 90% above age 70. ( 1 ) ED is found as a comorbid condition to a variety of metabolic disorders and heart conditions. For example, the estimated prevalence of ED among patients with atrial fibrillation is 57%. ( 5 ) Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus also increase the likelihood of ED roughly 3.5-fold. ( 14 ) Typical treatment of ED is varied and may consist of testosterone therapy, pharmaceutical interventions, or psychological and behavioral interventions. Many of the ingredients presented below focus on improving function and sexual satisfaction as assessed by the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), which is a questionnaire that assesses sexual activity, intercourse, stimulation, ejaculation, and orgasm, allowing insight into some of the possible mechanisms and areas of focus for treatment. ( 21 ) Based on the research findings, the ingredients in the protocol below have shown efficacy in improving a variety of factors associated with improving male sexual function. NOTE: Do not start any new supplements without first consulting with a qualified health professional. This protocol is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease(s). Read all instructions carefully and speak with your pharmacist about potential drug-drug, drug-food, and drug-supplement interactions.
