This is a 1-2 month protocol depending on the severity of symptoms. The main symptoms of SIBO are excessive belching/farting, abdominal bloating and constipation. If your symptoms have been around for less than 3 months, the 1 month protocol should be sufficient. If your symptoms have been around for longer than 3 months, the 2 month protocol would be a better option.

MSM powder is 27% sulfur and it is the sulfur component which makes your small intestines inhospitable for gas forming bacteria. Over time, without a food supply and in a high sulfur environment, the gas forming bacteria will leave the small intestines.

The 1 Month Protocol

Diet

Weeks 1-4:

Avoid inflammatory foods: Dairy, wheat (gluten), whole eggs, soy, and refined sugars.

Avoid legumes/beans

Eat only soft foods (i.e., cook all veggies until they're soft).

Gradually reintroduce after 4 weeks:

Legumes/beans
Inflammatory foods occasionally (i.e., 1-3 servings per week).

Supplements

MSM Powder (NOW): Mix with 1-4 oz. of water, immediately drink after stirring and chase with more water if needed as directed below:

Week 1: Take 1/2 teaspoon twice per day.
Week 2: Take 1 teaspoon twice per day.
Week 3: Take 2 teaspoons twice per day.
Week 4: Take 3 teaspoons twice per day.
Beyond: Take 1 teaspoon once per day as a maintenance. [Alternatively you can take 5, 1,000mg MSM capsules once per day.]
