I'm a board-certified dentist who kept filling the same cavities in the same patients and got tired of never asking why. That question sent me back for functional medicine training, and it rearranged how I practice. The mouth is the gut. Nearly everything that enters your body passes through it first, and the microbes living in there are in constant conversation with the rest of you. Your gums have influence over your heart, your brain, and your fertility. Your snoring has something to say about your mood, your hormones, and your inflammation.
