9 more items in Zinc Support ProtocolClinically tested zinc protocols organized by therapeutic goal and form. Supports immune function, mood, skin, hormonal health, and metabolic balance. Copper included to maintain safe zinc to copper ratio at therapeutic doses. Use this guide to find the right product for your individual needs. Zinc Picolinate or Zinc Bisglycinate (15 to 30 mg) Best for immune support, mood and depression support (adjunctive), hormonal and testosterone support, skin health, wound healing, and general dietary repletion. These forms offer superior absorption and excellent GI tolerance. Bisglycinate is preferred for patients with sensitive digestion. Zinc Gluconate (25 to 30 mg) Best for immune support and inflammatory acne. Comparable absorption to picolinate. Also the preferred oral form for acute cold support when taken at symptom onset. Zinc Carnosine (75 to 150 mg) Best for gut barrier support and intestinal permeability. This form has unique mucosal affinity and is not interchangeable with other zinc forms for this indication. Look for products labeled PepZin GI for the most clinically studied compound. Copper Bisglycinate (1 to 3 mg) Required pairing at therapeutic zinc doses. Zinc supplementation beginning at 18 mg per day can deplete copper over time. Include 2 mg copper daily with 25 to 30 mg zinc. Adjust ratio as directed by your provider. Zinc and Copper Combination Products A convenient option for patients who prefer fewer capsules. Look for a ratio of approximately 10 parts zinc to 1 part copper. All products in this protocol are free of zinc oxide, which has significantly inferior absorption compared to chelated and organic acid forms. Take zinc with food to reduce nausea risk, especially at doses of 25 mg or more. If you have kidney disease, a history of bariatric surgery, IBD, or celiac disease, please consult with Dr. Nykin before beginning supplementation.
View protocolTeen Gut Health Support

Adolescence involves significant microbiome shifts driven by hormonal changes, stress, diet, and frequent antibiotic exposure. A broad multi-strain formula supports digestive regularity, immune function, mood, and skin. Target 5–15 billion CFU daily.
View protocolHealthy Aging Probiotic Support

Bifidobacterium species — particularly B. longum and B. lactis — are most depleted with aging and best supported by evidence in older adults. Target 10–20 billion CFU daily on an ongoing basis. Higher potency formulations are recommended due to reduced colonization efficiency with age.
View protocolSkin & Gut Axis Probiotic Support

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG has the strongest evidence for atopic dermatitis. B. lactis and L. salivarius also show benefit in reducing inflammatory skin responses. Target 5–20 billion CFU daily for 8–12 weeks minimum. Skin responses are slower than digestive ones.
View protocolPediatric Digestive Health & AAD Prevention

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG is the most studied pediatric strain for antibiotic-associated diarrhea and acute gastroenteritis. Saccharomyces boulardii is a strong complement during antibiotic courses. Target 5–10 billion CFU daily. Chewable or powder formulations improve compliance in younger children.
