Basic Acne Protocol

2 more items in Basic Acne ProtocolThis is a basic introduction to a few products that can help with acne. *Please note that these are suggestions only and this information is not medical advice, nor is it intended to prevent, treat, or cure any disease.* The Burdock and Dandelion teas are great to drink on a regular basis to support skin health by optimizing hormone metabolism and elimination from the liver, lymphatics, and gut. The cod liver oil promotes healthy absorption of fats and fat-soluble nutrients, which are necessary for skin and hormone health. The Skin Deep Compound is an herbal tincture that can help promote healthy liver function, hormone metabolism, and skin health. The ConcenTrace trace minerals can be added to water to remineralize water, adding to its benefits. Trace minerals are necessary for nearly ever cellular function in your body, including hormone metabolism and skin tissue repair.

Please follow the suggested uses of these products as described in my online course "A Holistic Approach to Clearing Post-Birth Control Acne."

These are some of my favorite products for further supporting healthy skin from within. Organ Synergy (Designs for Health): This contains grass-fed organ meats that support liver detoxification, menstrual/hormone health, and provide key nutrients necessary for skin and hormone health. Alternatively, you can eat grass-fed organ meats like beef liver, but I find most people like the sound of supplementing better! MSM Powder (Pure Encapsulations): This MSM powder can be combined with aloe vera for a potent topical treatment that helps clear acne and heal acne scars.

In addition to the recommendations on your Months 5-6 list, additional options for nervous system and adrenal support that were discussed in Module 6 are listed here as well, including methylated B vitamins, magnesium glycinate and magnesium l-threonate (both are helpful for stress), l-theanine, and lavender extract (Lavela).
View protocolGut Health (additional options)

6 more items in Gut Health (additional options)These are my recommendations to try if you have digestive symptoms, like gas/bloating, constipation, loose stools, nausea, stomach upset, or food sensitivities. To support stomach acid and digestive enzyme production and improve bile flow, consider either the Betters Bitters spray (Herb Pharm) or one of the digestive enzyme supplements, if needed. The Better Bitters spray supports your own production of digestive secretions without supplying them directly, and they can be taken off and on after 2-3 months of daily use. However, if you're finding that you need additional support, trial taking either the Bio-Gest Digestive Enzymes (Thorne) or Digestive Enzymes Ultra w/ HCL (Pure Encapsulations) before each meal. They are similar products, but the Bio-Gest Digestive Enzymes also contain ox bile, which you can add in if you're missing a gallbladder or have recently been on hormonal birth control (avoid it if you don't use animal products). The digestive enzyme supplements should only be taken short-term (up to 3 months) and then discontinued, as you want your body to be producing its own stomach acid and enzymes. If you have symptoms of leaky gut (especially food sensitivities), I recommend taking GI Revive powder or Intestinal Support Complex powder daily for 2-3 months to support the repair and restoration of your gut lining. I don't find probiotics to necessarily be that helpful for everyone, but if you'd like to take a probiotic, I've added two high-quality options for probiotic supplements that I would recommend. Blue Heron is a fiber supplement that can help support gut motility and healthy bowel movements (especially if you have constipation, but it can also bulk up loose stools).
