GLP Program Support

17 more items in GLP Program SupportOptional Support During GLP-1 Weight Loss These supplements were selected to help address common nutritional needs and side effects that can occur during a clinician-guided GLP-1 weight-loss program. They are optional, and you do not need to take every product. Your clinician can help you choose the options that best match your symptoms, nutrition goals, medications, and medical history. Magnesium oxide for bowel-movement support: GLP-1 medications can slow digestion and contribute to constipation. Magnesium oxide draws water into the intestines and may help support softer, more comfortable, and more regular bowel movements. Magnesium glycinate or bisglycinate for relaxation: Magnesium supports normal muscle, nerve, energy, and glucose metabolism. The glycinate form is generally well tolerated and has less of a laxative effect than magnesium oxide. It can be taken in the evening to support relaxation and restful sleep. Magnesium glycinate and magnesium bisglycinate are two names for the same form. Digestzymes for broader digestive support: Because GLP-1 medications slow gastric emptying, some patients experience increased fullness, bloating, belching, or discomfort after meals. Digestzymes provides digestive enzymes to help break down protein, fat, and carbohydrates. It may be useful for patients who experience meal-related digestive discomfort, but it is not necessary for everyone and does not prevent gallbladder or pancreatic complications. Protein Optimizer for protein digestion and utilization: Consuming enough protein is essential for preserving lean muscle during weight loss, but patients sometimes experience gas, bloating, constipation, or other discomfort as they increase their protein intake. Protein Optimizer combines targeted probiotic strains with digestive-enzyme support to promote healthy digestion, microbiome balance, bowel regularity, and amino-acid absorption. It may be particularly helpful for patients using protein powders, following a higher-protein or plant-based diet, or struggling to tolerate increased protein intake while taking a GLP-1 medication. Take one capsule daily with a meal unless otherwise directed. Bone broth protein to help meet protein goals: Reduced appetite can make it difficult to consume enough protein during weight loss. Bone broth protein provides a convenient, generally easy-to-digest way to supplement dietary protein and support the preservation of lean muscle. This option was selected for its simple ingredients and digestive tolerability. Electrolytes to support hydration: Reduced food and fluid intake—or fluid losses from vomiting, diarrhea, heat, or exercise—can contribute to fatigue, lightheadedness, headaches, and muscle cramps. A low-sugar electrolyte supplement may help support hydration when plain water is not enough. Berberine for selected patients: Berberine may support insulin sensitivity and healthy glucose metabolism in some patients. It may occasionally be considered when insulin resistance or other metabolic factors appear to be contributing to a weight-loss plateau. Because berberine can cause gastrointestinal symptoms, lower blood glucose, and interact with medications, it should be used only with your clinician’s guidance. Choosing between the digestive-support products Protein Optimizer may be the better fit when the primary goal is supporting a higher-protein diet, protein-powder tolerance, bowel regularity, or microbiome balance. Digestzymes may be considered when symptoms occur more broadly after meals—particularly fullness, bloating, or difficulty tolerating meals containing a mixture of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Most patients will not need both products unless their clinician specifically recommends using them together. Important: Protein Optimizer supports protein digestion, but it does not contain a meaningful amount of protein and does not replace protein-rich foods or protein powder. Supplements should not be used to manage persistent or severe GLP-1 side effects. Contact your clinician for significant abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, inability to stay hydrated, jaundice, severe constipation, or worsening abdominal swelling.
