2 more items in Focus on PreconceptionHello there. I’m glad we could connect and put together a treatment plan for you. Attached, you will find the products I think are best suited to optimize your menstrual cycle, boost fertility and achieve overall wellness. If you click “add all to cart” you will be guided to a checkout experience and your products will be delivered to you. Please follow the instructions I’ve added and reach out if you have any questions. Here is a brief overview on the products that make up my pre conception protocol. Inositol: Inositol is necessary for most people with irregular/abnormal periods. It’s one of the most well-studied supplements with great data supporting its use. D-chiro-inositol has been shown to reduce insulin resistance, testosterone, and AMH levels and improve ovulation. Myo-inositol, when combined with folate, has been shown to improve fertility, egg quality, and pregnancy rates in women with hormone imbalances and irregular or abnormal periods. It may also be helpful for preventing gestational diabetes; A study in Gynecology Endocrinology showed the prevalence of GDM among pregnant women with PCOS who took myo-inositol group was 17.4% versus 54% in the control group. I recommend using a combination of both myo- and D-chiro inositol. When compared to myo-inositol alone, a combination of the two improved lowered insulin and improved cholesterol and inflammatory markers more effectively in women with PCOS. It’s also helpful for anxiety, which is common amongst women/people trying to conceive. Vitamin D: Vitamin D is linked to blood sugar control and vitamin D deficiency is clearly tied to hormone imbalance and symptom severity. Supplementing with vitamin D can help improve ovarian reserves, AMH levels, ovarian follicle health, and fertility, even if one isn’t vitamin D deficient. Many of us are low in vitamin D, even with adequate sunlight exposure – so I recommend most women take a daily dose. Ideally, we would decide on an appropriate dose based on your blood levels. Vitamin D is best absorbed when you also have adequate Vitamin K2. Prenatal Vitamins Numerous studies show that taking a prenatal vitamin not only improves baby's health, but also the health of the mom. Benefits include improved likelihood of becoming pregnant and reduced the risk of miscarriage, prenatal anxiety and depression, and postpartum depression – which can have a tremendous impact on the experience of being a mom. There is also reduced risk of pregnancy complications including gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, preterm birth, low birth weight babies, birth defects, and stillbirth – all of which can have massive health and safety consequences for mom and baby, including complications associated with prematurity and long hospital stays, and a possible reduction in risk of autism. We also see lower rates of long-term chronic problems that can affect our children later in life, for example, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease, when preconception nutrition is optimized. Probiotics Taking a probiotic may augment fertility, conception (including with IVF), and healthy pregnancy in a variety of ways. Disruption in the vaginal microbiome can favor the growth of organisms that interfere with fertility and increase pregnancy risk including miscarriage and preterm birth. Women undergoing IVF often have higher levels of BV and abnormal vaginal flora, which is now suspected to be a cause of the infertility that led them to treatment and may also interfere with IVF success. Probiotics can also help reduce inflammation and regulate blood sugar. Taking a probiotic containing a broad spectrum of Lactobacillus species may provide you with a fertility advantage and taking Lactobacillus rhamnosus during pregnancy can also help prevent urinary tract infections, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, as well as prenatal and postpartum anxiety and depression. Women who take a probiotic through the third trimester may help to prevent eczema, allergies, and asthma in their babies.
