GERD/Gastritis/Reflux/Heartburn Recommendations

Limit consumption of patient-specific food triggers such as: Tomato/acidic products, spicy foods, chocolate, caffeine, peppermint, carbonated beverages
Avoid eating 2-3 hrs before bed
Try smaller more frequent meals and chew food well before swallowing to increase digestive enzymes
Raise head of bed by 2-4 inches. Usually by placing wooden blocks under bed feet.

Key Ingredients of this protocol

Slippery elm, 1-2 TBPS in a glass of water 2 x per day.
Marshmallow tea 5G per day can be muco-protective for gastritis.
Deglycyrrhizinated Licoric two 380mg tablets before meals is good for GERD

Plantizyme by Thorne (Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Cellulase, Lactase) 1-2 caps with each meal.
May consider high potency probiotic with 8 plus strains and at least 50 billion count

Apple Cider Vinegar for GERD:
There isn’t enough clinical research showing ACV is a good remedy for acid reflux or GERD, but one study notes that ACV may be useful when taken before meals with other dietary supplements, including magnesium citrate, probiotic supplementation, and deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL).

If you want to try ACV for your acid reflux or GERD, dilute the ACV in warm water first:

Add a teaspoon to tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a mug of warm water.
Drink before or after a meal.
Alternatively, you can take a capsule of dehydrated apple cider vinegar. It is sometimes blended with other herbal remedies.
Drinking straight apple cider vinegar or large quantities of diluted ACV is never recommended. You should also not have APV when trying to heal an ulcer
