View protocolConstipation

Sinus health is fundamental to both the neuro-respiratory and gut-brain axis. The microbiome of the sinuses is the frontline of defense against respiratory infections. A healthy microbiome supports the epithelial barrier in the sinuses and gut, functioning as a fundamental element of the innate immune system. Constipation is often the result of dehydration! Drink at least two liters of fluid each day, and more if possible. This recommended probiotic is high in Bifidobacteria, specific for improving bowel regularity. Magnesium also helps draw water to the stool to help ease constipation. MotilPro can also be helpful for enhancing motility through the bowels. Dietary recommendations: Have 1 organic apple daily as a snack. Have 1 large raw mixed salad each day. Consume both fresh and cooked vegetables at each meal to maintain healthy bowel function. Addition of a fiber supplement is optional, but may be needed for some individuals with low dietary fiber intake. Bonus tip: get a squatty potty!
View protocolBlastocystis Hominis

3 more items in Blastocystis HominisProtozoa: Blastocystis Hominis Epidemiology » Fecal contamination of food or water is common Clinical Implications » Symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, fever, fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, infective arthritis, chronic urticaria, histamine intolerance. » Association with histamine intolerance. » Blastocystis hominis protects itself by disabling our nitric oxide production. It does this by producing an enzyme called arginase, which helps break down the amino acid, arginine. Arginine is required for the synthesis of nitric oxide, so without arginine, the body becomes deficient in nitric oxide (NO). A lack of NO has been proven to increase gut permeability and increase histamine levels. In fact, nitric oxide is actually a mast cell stabilizer. BLASTOCYSTIS CAN LOWER MAGNESIUM -Magnesium levels were tested in 52 patients infected with Blastocystis hominis and compared to 60 healthy controls. The blasto-positive patients had “clearly decreased” magnesium levels compared to those who did not have the parasite infection. It’s interesting that a magnesium deficiency can cause histamine to go up. -Low magnesium levels are also associated with increased mast cells in several organs of the body. -A magnesium deficiency causes lowered diamine oxidase production, too. And DAO, as we know, is very important for breaking down histamine. Natural treatment option: Phase One: (Blasto lowering) Saccharomyces boulardii (500mg 3 times a day) - 1 month Oil of Oregano capsules (50-60 mg three times daily) - 1 month GI Microb X 2 caps 3 times per - 1 month Magnesium - 1 month GI Detox - 1 month for a binder to absorb die off/toxins Phase Two: (gut healing) Saccharomyces boulardii - 2-3 additional months Magnesium - 2-3 additional months GI Revive - 3 months Depending on severity of infection, one may need to treat for a long time and monitor histamine reactions. Doing a low histamine diet for the first few weeks may be helpful as well. Reminder to also restore microbiome and heal gut lining ***PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR OWN MEDICAL HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES TO YOUR DIET/SUPPLEMENT/LIFESTYLE ROUTINE

Overview: While the goal is of course to have an optimized immune system to avoid frequent illness - it's rare for an entire family to go through the whole winter without a singl sniffle. This is where being prepared is key! In my home, we have these on hand AT ALL TIMES year round and at the first sniffle we initiate this full protocol. It has been incredibly successful for us in preventing full blown illness or at least shortening the duration of the cold. As always, if you have any questions feel free to email us at office@kristenblakewellness.com. Usage: At the first sign of illness begin: -Xlear two sprays in each nostril, followed by Silver two sprays in each nostril 2-3x/day -Wellness Formula with 6 capsules every 3 hours. Do not exceed 24 capsules a day for a maximum of 7 consecutive days. -Mega IgG 4 capsules twice a day Once illness is resolved, discontinue usage or reduce dosages to the following to maintain a state of wellness: -Xlear and Silver two sprays per nostril once a day -Wellness Formula with 4 to 6 capsules a day -Mega IgG 4 capsules once a day References: Zinc, when given during the initial 24 hours of symptom onset, has been shown to reduce the number of patients with symptoms after one week. ( Singh 2015 ), it reduces cold duration by 33%, ( Hemila 2017 ) or by approximately 1.65 to 3 days in healthy adults cold ( Hemila et al. 2017 )( Hemila 2016 )( Prasad 2008 )( Singh 2015 )( Science 2012 ), Zinc acetate equivalently reduces the duration by 40% and zinc gluconate reduces the duration by 28%, ( Hemila 2017 ) while other sources indicate greater efficacy with zinc acetate in healthy adults ( Science 2012 ). It also reduces the incidence of cold symptoms after 5-7 days in healthy adults and children ( Hemila et al. 2017 )( Singh 2015 ), reduces the duration of muscle soreness by 54%, cough by 46%, voice hoarseness by 43%, nasal congestion by 37%, nasal discharge by 34%, scratchy throat by 33%, sneezing by 22%, and sore throat by 18% in healthy adults ( Hemila 2015 )( Prasad 2008 ), reduces the incidence of common cold development, absence from school, and antibiotic use in children ( Singh 2015 ) and improves anti-inflammatory and antioxidant profile via reductions in plasma interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), TNF-ɑ, MDA, HAE, and 8-oHdG, and increases in IL-2 mRNA in mononuclear cells in healthy adults ( Prasad 2008 )( Prasad 2007 ) Vitamin C is another popular remedy to decrease the length of a cold and has the potential to decrease duration by approximately half a day. ( Ran 2018 ). Both of these key incredients are in the Wellness Formula along with several other ingredients studied and shown to improve immune function. Echinacea purpurea reduces the relative risk of cold development by 10-58% ( Karsch-Völk 2014 )( Schoop 2006 )( Shah 2007 ), reduces days with symptoms by 26% (1.4 days)( Jawad 2012 )( Shah 2007 ) and symptom scores by 23% ( Goel 2004 ). 52% fewer patients requiring concomitant use of aspirin, paracetamol, or ibuprofen ( Jawad 2012 ). It reduces the incidence of cumulative viral infections by 26% and recurring infections by 59%, including influenza virus and parainfluenza virus ( Jawad 2012 ) and increases associated counts for white blood cells, monocytes, neutrophils, and natural killer cells, and suppresses superoxide production in the later phase of the cold by neutrophils ( Goel 2005 ) Disclaimer: The content provided is not intended to be for medical diagnosis or treatment, is not a substitute for medical care, and is not meant to provide you medical or professional advice. View protocolSeasonal Allergy Support x KBWellness

This protocol is intended for supporting those who experience seasonal and/or environmental allergy symptoms. XClear nasal spray should be used after going outside to remove allergens from the nasal passages. HistaEase contains Tinofend®, a patented and clinically researched extract shown to regulate key immune mediators and support the activity of macrophages, quercetin, nettle leaf which have mast cell stabalizing activity which can reduce allergic responses in the body, and vitamin C, which helps support immune balance during the allergy season. Additionally, bicarbonate salts are included for their role in maintaining normal histamine metabolism. Omega-3 Fatty Acids can reduce inflammation and support the immune system as well. Probiotics have also been shown in studies to reduce allergies. *Make sure to discuss preexisting conditions with your medical provider. This protocol may not be appropriate for those on certain pharmaceutical medications. Make sure to discuss with drug/nutrient interactions with your provider.
