How to Choose Magnesium Supplements

4 more items in How to Choose Magnesium SupplementsHave you ever been told to take some magnesium, only to find yourself in front of the magnesium shelf flabbergasted at the many types of it? Magnesium uses are based on the type of salt it is in and the amount of absorption into the blood. Here is a short rundown of the few types: Magnesium citrate - very poorly absorbed therefore it is acts as a laxative and may be of some use for resolving constipation Magnesium glycinate - better absorbed and very calming therefore not quite as useful for constipation but better for muscle relaxation Magnesium malate - very good for muscle relaxation and it is better for athletes post workout Magnesium oratate - best for heart relaxation, high blood pressure and some forms of abnormal heart rhythms Magnesium oxide - has the worst absorption therefore is only used as a laxative but in situations where full colon cleanse is desired Magnesium l-threonate - is the only magnesium form that crosses the blood/brain barrier and therefore is good for sleep, memory and focus Magnesium chloride - is a TOPICAL form that feels oily to touch (often referred to as magnesium oil) and bypasses the gut therefore good relaxation and detoxification Magnesium Sulfate (also known as EPSOM Salts) - it is not very well absorbed but useful for relaxation and muscle pain reliever

In fact, 50% of the drugs approved in US commonly deplete nutrients, and 30% of the side effects are due to nutrient deficiencies. Tiredness is one of the side effects caused by many medications. For example: Beta blockers deplete melatonin and CoQ10 Diuretics deplete CoQ10, vitamin B12 and B9 ACEI deplete CoQ10 Statins deplete CoQ10 Metformin depletes vitamin B12 and CoQ10 SSRIs deplete melatonin and iodine Thyroid meds deplete iron Hormone replacement therapy depletes vitamin B12 Birth control depletes vitamin B12 H2 blockers and PPIs deplete vitamin B12 and iron

8 more items in Hair Loss ProtocolHair loss is a common problem that affects millions of people worldwide. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetics, stress, nutrition, medications, and nutrient deficiencies. Several nutrients are essential for healthy hair growth, including: Biotin is a B vitamin that is important for the health of hair, skin, and nails. It helps to strengthen hair and prevent breakage. Iron is important for the production of hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to the body's tissues. Iron deficiency can lead to anemia, which can cause hair loss. However, I do not recommend supplementing iron without confirming its deficiencies through lab test and working with your doctor or your functional medicine provider. This is why I do not include it in this protocol. Zinc is a mineral that is important for the health of hair follicles. It helps to keep the scalp healthy and prevent dandruff. Vitamin D is important for the growth and maintenance of healthy hair follicles. A deficiency in vitamin D can lead to hair loss. Vitamin B12 is important for the production of red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the body's tissues. A deficiency in vitamin B12 can lead to anemia and hair loss. CoQ10 is an antioxidant that helps to protect cells from damage and promote energy production. It also helps to improve circulation, which is important for delivering nutrients to hair follicles. A deficiency in CoQ10 can cause hair loss. References:

While supplementation is relatively affordable and easily accessible, it is important to know which vitamins and minerals are helpful in treating which type of hair loss. For example, androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and telogen effluvium (TE) are two common types of hair loss. Studies show that supplementing vitamin D can improve symptoms of these diseases. In addition, low iron levels (more commonly seen in females), should be supplemented along with vitamin C. Another type of hair loss is alopecia areata (AA) which is due to the immune system attacking the hair follicle. Studies have shown a relationship between AA and low vitamin D levels. Vitamin D should be supplemented if levels are low.
View protocolHow to Choose a Probiotics

Your body contains up to 10x more bacteria than it does human cells. Probiotics are live microorganisms that are beneficial to health. Via effects on the microbiome and on the human body itself, probiotics may impact every facet of health. Probiotics influence more than just gut health. They influence: Nasal, Sinus, and Respiratory Health Gastrointestinal Health, Increased Nutrient Absorption, and Digestive Comfort Vaginal and Urogenital Health Immune Health Here are my top 3 choices of probiotics I use with my clients. If there is a histamine problem, I use ProFlora 4R. For all other cases, I alternate between Digesta Guard Forte 10 and Ortho Biotic. ProFlora 4R: Soothing the lining of the gut, addressing histamine, supporting motility. Proflora contains 3 different Bacillus bacteria, all of which are human-derived, spore-forming, keystone species . That means there's something remarkable happening here. Shelf stability. Immunomodulation. Survival through the GI tract. And the ability to restore microbial diversity, even in the presence of antibiotics. The three botanicals – marshmallow root, aloe vera, and quercetin – soothe and calm. Digesta Guard Forte 10 is essential for individuals who take antibiotics. These medications wipe out good as well as bad bacteria, leading to complications, such as yeast infections, maldigestion, constipation, or diarrhea and nausea. It effectively rehabilitates the digestive system by restoring the bodyis healthy, digestive organisms and clearing out toxins in the intestines. As individuals age, digestive malfunctions become more common. Breakdowns in the digestive tract are linked with antibiotic use, unhealthy diet, food allergies, heartburn, gastritis, ulcers, hemorrhoids, flatulence, and constipation. Digesta Guard Forte 10 is a probiotic supplement that actually replaces bad bugs with ten beneficial bacteria. It thereby improves digestion and wards off dietary toxins, such as pesticide residues, hormones in foods, and toxic metals like lead or mercury. Ortho Biotic includes a carefully assembled cast of probiotic organisms to support microflora balance and maintain a healthy environment for vitamin uptake and optimal immune function. It helps maintain gastrointestinal balance, increases Secretory IgA for enhanced gut immunity, supports bowel regularity and supports digestion and micronutrient absorption.

Methylcobalamin - active form of vitamin B12. It is considered by some as the best forms as it doesn’t need any extra steps for conversion, therefore it is directly used by the body. However, methycobolamin has the ability to latch on to mercury forming methyl mercury which is toxic to the body. Therefore, not a good option for people that have mercury toxicity. Otherwise it is a good option as it helps protect the cardiovascular system. Also, it offers overall protection to the nervous system because it can cross the blood-brain barrier–without assistance–to protect brain cells. It is a key instrument for detoxification Hydroxocobalamin – bacteria naturally creates this form of vitamin B-12, making it the main type found in most foods. It is absorbed in the gut regardless of one’s digestive health. It is recommended worldwide by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a drug of choice for the treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency. It is commonly used as a treatment for cyanide poisoning from cigarette smoking because it is a very effective cyanide catcher. Adenosylcobalamin – is the mitochondrial form of the B12 vitamin f ound in cellular tissues . May be useful for those with impaired energy production. It is the least stable type of vitamin B-12 outside the human body.

4 more items in Natural Seasonal Allergies SupportI recommend trying one product at a time or combine couple, such as allergco with anthronex, quercetin with nettle. I recommend Vitamin C and Andrographys to everyone. L-ascorbate (Vitamin C) supports the immune system, and provides antioxidant support, thus helping the body fight infections and inflammation. Quercetin reduces allergic and inflammatory responses by promoting repair and stabilizing cell membranes. Additionally, there is research that confirms that quercetin dihydrate has antiviral and antioxidant benefits. Albizia enables a normal response to occasional seasonal stresses, supports a normal immune response, maintains normal respiratory tract function and maintains healthy breathing passages to support normal breathing Chinese (‘Baical’) Skullcap supports the body’s organs of elimination Black Cumin contains antioxidant activity properties Andrographis Complex contains Andrographis, Echinacea and Holy Basil to support normal immune system function, a healthy respiratory system function, support and maintain normal body temperature Quercetin has been linked to supporting the immune system acting as a natural antihistamine and protecting bone health Nettle has anti-inflammatory actions attributed to its ability to interrupt the production and actions of inflammation-producing cytokines, prostaglandins and leukotreines. HistoX is a combination of Quercetin, Butterbur, Stinging Nettle E, Mangosteen Extract (Garcinia mangostana), and Ginger Extract that supports the body's healthy response to foods and other environmental factors. It may support the immune system together with certain physiological systems, such as the cardiovascular, respiratory, and gastrointestinal systems.
