"Can support a reduced serum RBC Zinc < 900 μg/dL. Zinc is an essential micronutrient that plays a key role in growth and development, immune function, and testosterone metabolism, along with numerous other functions. It is the second most abundant trace mineral in the body, second only to iron. Clinical studies have demonstrated that zinc picolinate exhibits superior absorption compared to zinc citrate and zinc gluconate, with significantly higher amounts of zinc found in hair, urine, and red blood cells when supplementing with zinc picolinate."

"Can support elevated liver enzymes (AST is > 40 U/L and/or ALT is > 44U/L). Liver Nutrients by Seeking Health provides a unique blend of nutrients that may help support Phase I and Phase II liver detoxification processes. Combining five key ingredients, Liver Nutrients may help support healthy function as well as the body’s natural free-radical defense system. The liver is the body’s central detoxification organ, responsible for deactivating environmental toxins as well as those generated endogenously. The liver is equipped with several detoxification pathways, including excretion of toxins via bile, and a two-phase enzymatic neutralization process (Phase I and Phase II). Because free radicals and other potentially harmful intermediates are generated as a result of Phase I reactions, it is critical to maintain a proper balance of Phase I and Phase II activities to support healthy cellular processes."

Lifestyle recommendations
Nutrition
Nutrition, Fiber & Elimination
- Prioritize fiber every day, gradually working toward approximately 25–35 grams daily from whole-food sources as tolerated.
- Include a variety of vegetables, berries and other whole fruits, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, and minimally processed whole grains to provide both soluble and insoluble fiber.
- Increase fiber gradually and always pair higher fiber intake with adequate fluids. Increasing fiber without adequate hydration may worsen constipation.
- Prioritize adequate protein to provide amino acids needed for normal liver metabolism and the body's antioxidant systems.
- Eat a wide variety of colorful plant foods to provide polyphenols, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.
- Include healthy fats from foods such as extra virgin olive oil, avocado, nuts, seeds, and fatty fish.
- Minimize ultra-processed foods, excessive added sugars, and particularly excess fructose from sugar-sweetened beverages.
- Limit or avoid alcohol when supporting liver health.
- Avoid unnecessarily restrictive "detox" diets, juice cleanses, or prolonged fasting. The liver requires adequate energy, protein, vitamins, and minerals to perform its normal functions.
Hydration & Healthy Bowel Function
- Hydrate consistently throughout the day. Fluid needs vary based on body size, climate, exercise, diet, and medications.
- Pair adequate hydration with minerals and electrolytes through a nutrient-dense diet.
- Aim for comfortable, regular bowel movements without persistent constipation, diarrhea, excessive straining, or urgency.
- Don't routinely ignore the urge to have a bowel movement.
- Support bowel regularity through adequate fiber, fluids, physical activity, and consistent meals rather than relying routinely on stimulant laxatives.
- Persistent changes in bowel habits should be evaluated rather than assumed to be a normal part of "detoxification."
Other
Movement, Sweating & Sauna
- Move your body every day. Walking, resistance training, and cardiovascular exercise support circulation, insulin sensitivity, body composition, and overall liver and metabolic health.
- Regular exercise that produces a healthy sweat can be part of an overall wellness routine, although sweating does not replace the liver and kidneys as the body's primary processing and elimination systems.
- Sauna can be incorporated as an additional wellness and cardiovascular practice when appropriate.
- When exercising or using a sauna, replace fluids and electrolytes appropriately and avoid intentionally pushing yourself toward dehydration.
- Individuals with cardiovascular conditions, low blood pressure, pregnancy, or other medical concerns should discuss sauna use with their healthcare provider.
Lifestyle
- Prioritize 7–9 hours of restorative sleep each night.
- Maintain a healthy body composition while preserving lean muscle mass, as metabolic health is closely connected to liver health.
- Manage chronic stress and incorporate regular opportunities for recovery.
- Reduce unnecessary exposure to tobacco smoke and other environmental pollutants when practical.
- Review medications and supplements with your healthcare provider. "Natural" does not automatically mean liver-safe, and unnecessary supplementation can add to the liver's workload.
- Consider appropriate evaluation of liver enzymes and metabolic markers based on your individual health history.
