Targeting Inflammation and Histamine with Quercetin For patients who experience seasonal discomfort, the core of preventative support often lies in managing inflammation and a stable immune response. Quercetin —especially advanced forms like Quercetin Phytosome —is a potent flavonoid that acts as a mast cell stabilizer, helping to reduce the release of histamine, which is responsible for common allergy symptoms like itching and irritation. Formulas like HistaQuel® or Aller-DMG™ are ideal for individuals with a known tendency toward allergies, hay fever, or chronic histamine sensitivity. When to use them: Begin taking these supplements daily about two to four weeks before your expected allergy season starts, and maintain use throughout the high-pollen months for proactive relief. 2. Direct Relief for Sinus and Respiratory Health While general immune support is important, some symptoms require more direct and targeted relief, particularly when they affect the upper respiratory system. Sinuplex® provides a blend of key nutrients and botanicals designed to support healthy sinus and lung function. This formula is especially beneficial for patients who experience frequent congestion, post-nasal drip, or sinus pressure caused by environmental irritants or seasonal changes. Who should consider this: Individuals whose seasonal symptoms primarily manifest as nasal and sinus discomfort. When to use it: Sinuplex® can be taken as a preventative measure daily during symptomatic periods, or as needed for acute symptom relief during a flare-up. 3. Vitamin C: The Foundational Immune Nutrient Vitamin C is a cornerstone of immune health, functioning as a powerful antioxidant that supports cellular defense and the production of white blood cells. This sale includes two distinct forms to match your absorption needs: the Ultra Potent-C® 1000 is a high-dose, buffered tablet for maximum intake that is gentle on the stomach, while the Liposomal Vitamin C liquid offers superior absorption directly into the cells, which is excellent for individuals with sensitive digestion or for those who prefer liquid dosing (including children). Who needs it: Nearly everyone benefits from consistent Vitamin C. It is a fundamental daily supplement. When to use it: Maintain a baseline dose daily, year-round, for antioxidant protection; increase the dosage at the very first sign of a cold or flu for immune support. 4. Probiotics for a Balanced Gut-Immune Connection A healthy immune system starts in the gut, where trillions of beneficial bacteria interact with immune cells. Probiotics, such as UltraFlora® Immune Booster , are specifically formulated with strains known to modulate and strengthen the immune response in the digestive tract. By supporting the integrity of the gut lining and balancing the microbiome, these products reduce systemic inflammation and enhance the body's natural defenses against seasonal illness. Who should use it: Patients looking for robust foundational immune and digestive health, especially those who frequently get sick or have prior history of antibiotic use. When to use it: Daily use is recommended to maintain a thriving microbiome, providing consistent support for both gut and immune function throughout the year. 5. What's right for you - and saving money: When used together, these supplements create a comprehensive defense strategy—from the gut (probiotic) to the bloodstream (Vitamin C) to the respiratory tract (Sinuplex) and histamine response (Quercetin, HistaQuel). The best time to purchase is during the sale , to ensure you have these tools on hand before symptoms begin. Remember that while these general recommendations offer excellent support, they are not a substitute for your personalized treatment plan. Always review your final supplement choices and dosing with your PIM clinician to ensure optimal synergy with your individual health needs and to avoid drug-supplement or supplement-supplement interactions.
Do I Need to Take a B vitamin? If so, which one?

3 more items in Do I Need to Take a B vitamin? If so, which one?Basic nutrients and B vitamins are key for human chemistry including methylation chemistry . Methylation plays a role in major body processes including detoxification, immune function, DNA building and repair, energy production, mood balance and inflammation. Methylation impacts every cell and tissue in our body. Nutrition, stress reduction and supplementation can improve methylation. Do you need to take a B vitamin? Many do. Note: it is not recommended to purchase B vitamins or supplements containing antioxidants through third party sellers such as online platforms unless quality and handling are guaranteed. Only buy direct from manufacture or via Fullscript (temperate environment and storage are ensured) so quality is intact when you open the bottle. CHOOSE ONE: Life Extension Homocysteine Resist 1 daily with food. Some only need to take one every other day. Affordable. Metabolic Maintenance B-Complex 1 daily with food. Comprehensive B complex support. Also very affordable! K-PAX Mitonutrients 4 daily. Independently tested to ensure antioxidants are present when you open the bottle, K-PAX gives you key nutrients for both methylation support and oxidative stress. This is what I take, and I don’t personally need to add a B complex. Big pills but miraculously easy to swallow. Designs for Health Vitamin B12 Lozenges dissolve one lozenge slowly in mouth per day with o without food. On a budget or sensitive? Take ½ lozenge a day (get a pill cutter). Vital Nutrients B6 + B Complex Extra B6. For some individuals, extra B 6 is very stabilizing. Seeking Health B-Minus Best for sensitive individuals who can’t take B vitamins at full strength. Contains some B6, does not contain B12 or folate. There are two key blood tests to assess for methylation: Methylmalonic acid (MMA for short, a much better test than serum B12) Homocysteine. A purely conventionally trained healthcare practitioner may not routinely order or be prepared to interpret test results. We recommend you see a clinician who routinely orders them OR find a way to obtain testing then interpret results yourself. FYI If asking your doctor to order, both of the above tests are often covered by insurance ICD-10 code E53.8. How to interpret your lab work : MMA goal is less than 125. Higher means B12 is inadequate. If your MMA is high, take more B12. If your MMA is less than 125, you may be ingesting more than needed. This will not hurt you as B vitamins are water soluble, and you can cut back by taking B12 less often. Homocysteine goal is 6-7. Higher levels indicate you need more folate, B6 and/or B12. Mineral deficiency especially magnesium and zinc can also contribute to high HCY. Selenium is also needed for methylation. In the clinic, we test your 3 month averages of these 3 support nutrients, via RBC magnesium , RBC zinc and RBC selenium . We have not had much success in having conventional practitioners order these tests. Disclaimer: This information is for educational purposes only and is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
