In turn, this releases bile salts and pancreatic digestive enzymes, increasing gastric motility. Gentian root and quassia may help support digestion by increasing prostaglandin-mediated cytoprotection in the gastric membrane; prostaglandins stimulate the release of mucous and sodium bicarbonate in the stomach."
