Newsletter Winter 2026 - Mood and Memory

8 more items in Newsletter Winter 2026 - Mood and MemoryDear Patients, Happy new year! :) So far, 2026 may be launching for you with changes and opportunity -- alongside certain times of high stress, too much on the plate, mood swings, and trouble concentrating or remembering things. If you're experiencing this, you're not alone! It's common at the start of a new year to find renewed energy for healthy changes, exciting or new circumstances, adventures, fitness, learning, and fun. BUT as the body adjusts to a new year and potentially a packed schedule, it may be hard to align stress levels, energy, mood, and memory/focus with the activities that we're wanting to move toward. Natural therapies can help with transitions during a new year; a time when the current year is still intermingling with the previous year. Below are some recommendations to help support healthy mood, memory/focus, good energy, and a balanced stress response. Here are some key ingredients that are highlighted in the formulas: Lion's Mane mushroom -- Helps with improved memory, focus, and concentration Saffron -- Creates uplifted mood and supports positive outlook even during stress Ashwagandha -- Helps the body process and adapt to stress and tonifies the adrenal glands Rhodiola -- Improves mood, cognitive function, and stress response Holy Basil -- Helps the body manage physical and mental-emotional stress and reduces inflammation L-theanine -- Promotes relaxed alertness by increasing calming neurotransmitters Ginkgo -- Improves blood flow to the brain and reduces stress, also an antioxidant When you have gentle yet effective tools at your disposal for mood, energy, stress, and cognitive function, so many other pieces of health can start to fit together. Digestion can run more smoothly, hormones can start to balance out, sleep quality goes up, and it's easier to feel motivated for exercises and that never-ending To-Do list. You can let me or Dr. Petersen know if you have any questions about the supplements. As always, please familiarize yourself with the supplement's label including dosing, instructions, and caution/contraindications for use. Wishing you a great continuation of the new year! Best, Dr. Patel apatelnd@gmail.com
Red Fern Health Newsletter - Fall 2025 - Resilience for the Body

27 more items in Red Fern Health Newsletter - Fall 2025 - Resilience for the BodyDear Patients, Happy fall to you! We hope you're enjoying the changing colors of the leaves. With holiday festivities coming up and extra time with family, we hope you also get a chance to check in with yourself and your health during busy times. ***There are a few different areas of health that we providers notice may need extra attention and support during this fall/winter season: Inflammation / soreness -- As we try to keep up with physical activity during the cooler weather, our joints may resist and respond with soreness, swelling, and inflammation. Circulation issues -- During the summer, circulatory issues may be held at bay or completely resolve for some. During the fall and winter, tendencies to poor circulation (especially after a long day) can become more of an issue. Swelling, tingling/numbness in the extremities, stiffness in the joints, and varicosities may result along with dry skin. Lowered immune system -- Feeling rundown, tired, experiencing lingering colds, or even noticing allergy-type symptoms (cough, runny nose, sneezing, stuffiness). Digestive issues -- A sluggish digestion that can lead to abdominal bloating, increased gas, constipation, or irritable bowel/leaky gut. Dry skin -- Hands, feet, lips, facial skin. Dry skin can be annoying and also lead to self-consciousness when we're interacting with others. It's also very common in this climate, as most of us know too well. Sounds like fun, huh? Actually, as we all know the fall season can be very fun and festive, and all the more so when we prepare our bodies for the types of challenges we may face with the change of season. 1) Reconnecting with your body FIRST helps you be aware of which specific areas of health could use more support. Also, are these areas connected in any way, potentially making it simpler to support them using targeted natural therapies? 2) Next, think NOT JUST toward which supplements may help, but also which lifestyle measures would be in your body's favor to do this season. For example , are you lacking an exercise plan or could you benefit from more light weights or resistance-based movements? Are you stretching? Are you skimping on water or fiber intake? How's your diet, and are you skipping meals or snacks too often leading to blood sugar imbalances? Are you allowing your body to take breaks here and there as needed for proper rest? How's sleep hygiene going? Are you letting perceived stress (repetitive thoughts, worries, or negative self-talk) get the best of you? 3) Finally, you can explore different natural therapies that could make the day-to-day smoother with increased physical strength and stamina, a more resilient immune system, smooth digestive movement, and decreased inflammation. ***Below are some general recommendations on natural therapies and products that could help support you where you're at. Please let us know if you have questions and of course check in with your own specific health needs to make sure any natural therapy is suitable for you. Refer to the label for precautions and contraindications. When you click on each product, you'll find a complete description along with ingredients. You can follow instructions on the label; start at a lower dose and build up to your comfort/tolerance level; ask us for a recommended dose; or refer to any specific instructions we've added to this newsletter. ***If you are pregnant, nursing, or seeking a therapy for your child, please consult with one of our doctors before choosing a product that offers caution on the label for these groups of patients. You can also search the catalog for alternatives or substitutes to a product. Enjoy your body's natural ability to keep you well and balanced this fall season, as well as supporting it as needed along the way. This time of the year can be an excellent time to reconnect with how your body's doing and to see which areas deserve more care and attention. Feel free to schedule an appointment with one of our docs to receive a more individualized preventive plan. You can contact us by visiting our webpage or by reaching your specific doctor using the contact method they've provided you. We wish you a great fall season ahead and happy holidays! :) Best, Red Fern Health (Dr. Aarti Patel ND & Dr. Jason Petersen ND) PS -- If you want to treat dry or chapped lips to luxurious exfoliation & hydration this fall , consider Furtuna Skin's Lip Renewal Duo (20% off at checkout with code PATEL20 ) . Red Fern Health Newsletter - Winter 2024/2025

14 more items in Red Fern Health Newsletter - Winter 2024/2025Dear Patients, Happy new year! We hope the start of this year is treating you well. This is our Red Fern Health Newsletter - Winter 2025 that contains health and wellness tips & product recommendations for common complaints we're seeing this winter season. These symptoms include: Run down immune system Colds/flus Dry skin Trouble sleeping *Recommended products will be displayed below the written part / main body of this newsletter. In the product section, you can learn more about each remedy by clicking on it, and you can order products directly from this newsletter. IMMUNE SUPPORT ---------------------- For those who are dealing with runny or stuffy nose, chills, muscle soreness, or cough/cold, we suggest plenty of rest and fluids first and foremost. If you're wanting to support your immune system from within, it's also important to get enough vitamin D , which can be supplemented if needed (available in the catalog). Take it in the morning with a breakfast that contains some fat, for best absorption. Vitamin D testing is available upon request. ***Slowing down on exercise is okay while your body recovers! You'll get back to it again when you're feeling better. For immune therapies , we've included product recommendations below including: 1) Elderberry syrup and gummies 2) 3-in-1 immune support for daily defense, as well as imminent cold/flu support 3) Rapid defense gummies for an oncoming cold, and 4) Edible mushrooms in capsule form (also available in powder form from the catalog, which can be mixed into your morning beverage - 1 tsp.) ***You'll also find kids' immune support! We've included Kids' Immune Fortifier (tincture), and Gummies that contain either vitamins C, D, and zinc in combination or elderberry. DRY SKIN ----------------------- For those experiencing dry facial or body skin, start your skincare by: Choosing a gentle cleanser, avoiding over-cleansing, and rinsing with lukewarm instead of hot water (maybe even cold water in the case of cracked or bleeding hands!) Make sure to drink plenty of water daily, like 64 fluid ounces, and extra if you're exercising or consuming caffeine, sugar, or alcohol. Omega-3 fats are beneficial for skin hydration from within, and they can be obtained from food sources or as a supplement (available in catalog here). For topical care , we've included recommendations such as: 1) Rosewater and glycerin spray for face/body/scalp 2) Soothing skin balm containing Ayurvedic herbs 3) Cocoa butter lip balm 4) Weleda skin food ultra-rich cream, and 5) Almond soothing facial lotion to protect the skin barrier (suitable for sensitive skin) SLEEP SUPPORT ------------------------ Rest can be elusive this time of the year with greater hours of darkness and time/space for thoughts to go into overdrive right before bedtime. Try winding down 1-2 hours before bedtime , to help separate the work/school/parenting day from your getting-ready-for-sleep routine. Ditching your electronic devices can be helpful, as well as disconnecting from social media. Take note if you're spending excessive time worrying about events from earlier in the day or what is on your plate for tomorrow. Read a book instead, soak your feet, do gentle yoga or breathing, or drink some tea. We've included therapies that can help with sleep , for both adults and kids, including: 1) Kids sleep gummies, containing a low-dose melatonin of 2.5mg 2) Magnesium glycinate for adults, taken 30-60 minutes before bedtime 3) Cortisol manager for adults, taken 30-60 minutes before bedtime. Contains the Ayurvedic herb Ashwagandha to help the body/mind wind down 4) Calming tea that also supports digestion *** All product instructions can be found when you click on VIEW DOSAGE INSTRUCTIONS below each remedy listed (in the plan below). Please read any product labels/warnings carefully if purchased. Keep all products away from children, and administer kids' therapies under your adult supervision. If you are pregnant or nursing, please do not start these recommendations without first consulting with your doctor. For questions or further instruction, feel free to email us at Redferndocs@gmail.com. Alternatives to the products listed below can be found by searching here in the Fullscript catalog. Products in our dispensary have a built-in discount of 15% off at checkout. Our next newsletter will come out in the spring, and you know what that issue might be about....
