"Divided doses in between meals. Typical dosage per capsule: 500mg or 1000mg Acute dose (when you are in an active flare): 1000mg to 2000mg 3 times a day Alert: 1. Lysine is an amino acid and as such should be taken between meals. 2. I advise against lysine in hemochromatosis because it enhances iron absorption. 3. High dose long term can increase cholesterol and increase risk of gallstones. 4. High dose should not be taken with compromised kidneys or with aminoglycoside antibiotics (gentamicin, neomycin, streptomycin, etc.) due to risk of nephrotoxicity. Long-term dose: 1000mg to 1500mg 2-3 times a day is considered safe; even 1000mg 2- 3 times a day can help prevent future recurrence; as low as 500mg 1-2 times a day is helpful longer term. There is much flexibility with dosing. Lysine is going to be instrumental, but you have to be safe with the dose, depending on other medical history you have as I outlined above. Like I said, even 1000mg a day goes a long way. Do not overdo it and watch if you are ok on a higher dose. You can increase the dose during acute reactivation, for sure. "

"Children take 2 drops a day, TEENS take 5 drops and but adults need 10 drops a day. Establishing an adequate level of vitamin D is essential to immune health and long-term control of EBV. However, recent research has shown that this is not as simple as testing vitamin D levels and then supplementing. The presence of the virus can actually interfere with cellular uptake of D, leading to a situation where a person cannot get their D levels to rise no matter how much they take. The best route is to use vitamin D as a preventative—when you are not in a flare, try to get your D levels up. This article discusses the interplay between vitamin D, EBV, and MS, and has some interesting details regarding how D interacts with EBV antibodies (https://imrpress.com/.../20/1/10.31083/j.jin.2021.01.392/htm)."
