2 more items in Dr. T's Inflammation Protocol - Tier 3The body naturally produces inflammation as a defense mechanism against damage and injury, but when it persists for an extended period, it can contribute to chronic pain and other health issues. While suppressing inflammation can provide temporary relief, the ultimate goal should be to help the body resolve the inflammation. Depending on the severity of the inflammation and chronic pain, different ‘tiers’ of support may be required. To help those who are feeling stuck, we’ve provided the basic protocol tiers for how Dr. Timmermans and his team start addressing inflammation with supplements. IMPORTANT – These supplements are just that, supplements! This means that they are not always a substitute for medication, and they should supplement lifestyle changes that you are making to reduce inflammation, such as changing your diet, spending more time in nature, improving your sleep, staying hydrated, and getting movement/exercise into your day. Tier 3 – Severe Inflammation and Pain Omega 3 fatty acids 4g/day, Vitamin C 1g 4x/day, Theracurmin 600mg 2x/day, 80mg Molecular Hydrogen 3x/day, and Pro-Resolving Mediators (SPM) 1.5g 3x/day Omega 3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory compounds and increasing the production of anti-inflammatory compounds, and by modulating the production of inflammatory cytokines and other inflammatory signaling molecules. Vitamin C helps to reduce inflammation through several means, including supporting and modulating the immune system, improving collagen production which can help the body to repair damages tissues, protecting cells from free radical damage, and modulating inflammatory cytokine production. Theracurmin, which is a patented preparation of curcumin that increases bioavailability and therefore blood levels, predominantly helps to reduce inflammation by inhibiting various signaling pathways that are involved in the inflammatory response, specifically tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 (IL-1). Molecular hydrogen can help to reduce inflammation through various mechanisms, including acting as an antioxidant to scavenge reactive oxygen species, modulating the immune system, and regulating gene expression to reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increase the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines. Please understand that even with these supplements, it may still take several months to see significant improvement in your chronic pain. And if you think you need more individualized support, please work with a licensed and qualified naturopathic doctor.
