If you have negative reactions to omega-3 supplementation, you may have fat malabsorption or poor biliary function leading to an inability to properly digest the omega-3s fatty acids. When selecting an omega-3, it's critical to prioritize ones that are in triglyceride form (not ethyl esther), wild-caught fish, single-origin, with minimal additives, high in EPA and DHA , purified to remove contaminants, and stored in dark bottles. The vast majority of omega-3 supplements MUST be refrigerated or else the fragile oils oxidize . You also want to make sure to order your Omega-3 supplement from a distributor that properly stores and refrigerates heat-sensitive supplements. Fullscript's shipping practices are temperature controlled, and heat-sensitive items are shipped with ice packs directly from manufacturers, so I recommend purchasing directly from Fullscript. Contains 400mg DHA and 500mg EPA (in 2 softgels). Olprima DHA: Start with this one if you're in need of memory, cognitive support, cardiovascular support, or lowering overall inflammation, then switch to Olprima EPA | DHA after 3 months for more balanced support. Contains 620mg DHA (in 2 softgels). Olprima EPA: Start with this one if you have mood dysregulation or mental health issues, then switch to Olprima EPA | DHA after 3 months for more balanced support. Contains 600mg EPA (in 2 softgels). Tuna Omega-3 Chewable: Best for children and/or those who need chewables (has a lower dose of EPA and DHA, so won't be sufficient for meeting all nutritional requirements, but good for those who need chewables and are okay with taking a higher pill count of these each day; has a pleasant orange flavor). Contains 240mg DHA and 50mg EPA (in 2 chewable softgels). Calamari Omega-3 Liquid: Best for those who want a liquid and a highly concentrated dose. 1 teaspoon contains 800mg of EPA and 400mg of DHA. Has a pleasant lemon flavor. Cod Liver Oil: Due to its naturally occuring Vitamin A and Vitamin D content, cod liver oil has unique benefits, including bone density protection, night vision support, and respiratory immune support. However, the omega-3 quantity is lower, so you'll need to supplement this with a regular fish oil as well to meet nutritional requirements. Can be chewed or swallowed. Has a pleasant flavor when chewed (although slightly fishy). Be careful not to overdo this supplement, as excessive Vitamin A intake over long periods of time can cause Vitamin A toxicity. Contains 3000mg of cod liver oil, including 300mg DHA, 210mg EPA, 600mcg RAE of Vitamin A, and 2.3mcg Vitamin D (in 3 softgels). -->If you're Vitamin D deficient, you'll also need a separate D3+K2 supplement to meet your needs (I recommend MegaQuin D3+K2 by Microbiome Labs). OmegAvail Hi-Po: Alternative to Olprima EPA | DHA. Contains 800mg DHA and 800mg EPA (in 2 softgels). Balanced EPA:DHA ratio. Contains lipase for digestive support. OmegAvailTG1000: Alternative to Olprima EPA | DHA or Olprima EPA. Contains 250mg DHA and 662mg EPA (in 1 softgel). This is an EPA-forward formulation for added mental health and nervous system support. Contains lipase for digestive support. Biomega-1000: Alternative to Olprima EPA | DHA or Olprima EPA. Sustainably sourced off the coast of Chile. Contains 353mg DHA and 529mg EPA (in 1 softgel). Biomega-SPM: This is a unique formulation containing SPMs (Specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators).
