Benefits of Creatine

Creatine can help support your health in so many ways. Read on to learn more. Aids in muscle growth and recovery Cognitive benefits Bone density benefits Improved athletic performance Increases cellular hydration Safe and effective for nearly everyone What is Creatine? Creatine is an amino acid stored mostly in skeletal muscle, and is necessary for creating ATP – the body’s readily usable form of energy. Half of the body’s creatine stores come from consuming creatine in food – mainly from meat, fish, and eggs – or from supplementation, while the other half comes from its synthesis in the liver and kidneys from amino acids. Why Take It? What Is Creatine Good For? The body’s physiological need for creatine increases with regular strenuous exercise or when muscle damage occurs. For athletes, creatine helps the body more efficiently create energy to engage in activity. Outside of the athlete population, creatine effects have also been shown to lessen muscle breakdown in individuals with sarcopenia 2 and to support cognitive function in aging populations. 3 Does creatine help build muscle? How does creatine help build muscle? While creatine is best absorbed before, during, and after physical activity, consistency in taking it is the most crucial factor. So choose to take creatine either before, during, or immediately after a workout, but do it at whichever time will ensure you take it regularly. It is okay to vary the time you take creatine based on your day, but it is recommended that you take it around your workout window. I love Thorne's micronized form of creatine monohydrate powder that is colorless, odorless, and offers enhanced solubility, making it easy to mix in water . Mix one level scoop (5 grams) with at least eight ounces of water, or a preferred beverage daily. It can be consumed 30-90 minutes before or after exercise. Because an athlete needs to know that his or her nutritional supplements are trustworthy and compliant, every batch of Thorne's NSF Certified for Sport® supplement is tested for compliance with label claims and to ensure the absence of more than 200 substances banned by many major athletic organizations. These banned substances include stimulants, narcotics, steroids, diuretics, beta-2 agents, and masking agents.

4 more items in Probiotic and Prebiotic SupportI have included my favorite go to probiotics and prebiotics here. It is ok to rotate things around and see if one works better for you. I typically dose my probiotics at night before bed and take a prebiotic at the same time. This helps "feed" the probiotic, which will help them modulate your microbiome for a healthy balance of good bacteria. The following below are probiotics: Ther-Biotic Complete MegaSpore Biotic S.E.E.D S. Boulardii The following are prebiotics: Ther-Biotic Biotagen in capsule and powder form Fibermend The prebiotics can also be added to smoothies to add more fiber, which can be used for kids too! Hope this helps, reach out if you have any questions. Yours In Health, Marnie P.S. Please make sure you just choose 1 probiotic and 1 prebiotic, I wanted to give choices so you are not meant to get all! Here is a blog post on Prebiotics and Probiotics.

5 more items in Women's Daily SupportThe following is a supplement regime to support Women who are over 40. It includes probiotics, which are S. Boulardii and MegaSpore Biotic. A women's multi geared toward what women need during this age. It includes herbs that support breast health and heart health. B vitamins, which can be helpful for blood sugar balance, supporting the adrenals as well as a multitude of other enzymatic reactions that need B vitamins on board to work. Adaptocrine, which is the herbal support that can help with our stress response, which can help with energy dips as well as too much cortisol being produced. A broad spectrum digestive enzyme that can support the digestive process and help reduce gas, bloating, or other GI issues. As we age we produce less enzymes, so this helps support not only good digestion, but also absorption. Vitamin D, that contains Vitamin K1 and K2, which is needed to absorb the D better. And, finally I included an immune support, Biocidin, that is in a dropper form. I use this for myself, as well as my kids when they are feeling run down or when something is brewing. It is a natural antimicrobial, antiviral and can knock down colds and flu before they become full blown immune stressors. Any of these items can be taken off the list, please get what you feel you need and you can always come back to the store or ask me directly for something on this list.
